Updated Forum Guidelines (4/30/10) Please read!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding a post, please do not hesitate to write to a member of Administration or Moderation.

1.
DiscussDogs is a family-friendly forum. Posts (including links and signatures) should be made with this in mind and are subject to being edited by our moderators without notice.

2. Certain types of posts and links may be considered spam or simply an inappropriate use of the forum. This can include but is not limited to:
-Posting the same thread multiple times on the forum.
-Posting a thread for the *sole* purpose of posting a link. It is one thing to post a link and article in the articles section, but posting threads just to link to external websites will from now on be considered inappropriate as per the site owner. It is perfectly fine to post a *relevant* link in an appropriate thread (ie posting a link to Clean Run in a thread about agility, for example.)
-Posting non-dog related threads anywhere but the Off Topic areas of the site.
-Advertising any product or website, ESPECIALLY those ads through which you receive payment. Posting a link and especially starting a thread just so you can generate traffic to your blog or website is NOT ALLOWED, and makes more work for your admin. Don't do it.
-Posting in large, colorful fonts that make it more difficult for users to read.
-"Vote for my dog" contest links.
3.When posting a link in your signature, it MUST be your *own* website or one that you are directly affiliated with in some way, and not a third party site. Links to sites that are selling products or otherwise facilitating financial gain for members will be considered advertising and will be removed. The website MUST have a link back to DiscussDogs and the link that you use in your signature must go directly to the page on your site which contains the link. Content on the website in your link must be family friendly and should be dog related. Admin reserves the right to remove signatures that do not comply with this rule.

4. Signature pictures sizes should not exceed a maximum size of 500 pixels (width) x 200 pixels (height).

5. When posting photos either by using the site’s photo manager or another source such as an on-line photo storage provider, please make sure your posted photos are no wider than the forum. We do not want the board stretched in order to compensate. Failing to do so won't result in punishment, but photos that are too large may be removed or edited by moderators/admin.

6. Do not bring cross-board issues here.

7. "Trolling" or posting a thread or comment specifically to incite trouble with other members will NOT be allowed. Depending on the severity of the posted content, punishment can result in permanent banning.

8. Disagreements are acceptable but at all times please remember that good manners must prevail. Please remember that we all love our dogs and we’re not always going to agree on everything.

9. Certain topics such as Animal Rights, Breeding, Rescue, Designer dogs, Docking/Cropping, Spay/Neuter, etc, are very controversial. These topics are allowed and discussion and debate are encouraged; if members cannot conduct themselves in a respectful manner, however, that thread may be closed and that member may receive an infraction warning. Hot button issues such as religion, abortion, politics, etc in the Off-topic section are subject to the same rules. Do not take arguments from one thread to another.

10. We encourage any member facing difficulty with their dog(s), be it behavioral concerns or medical issues, to seek the services of a professional. Questions posted about aggression are subject only to advice being offered that would help keep people and other animals safe until professional help can be acquired for rehabilitation. When you take advice found on this forum, you are doing so AT YOUR OWN RISK!
