He looks really pitbull to me. He is a beautiful dog. Kudos to you for adopting and sounds like you got a really great dog.

I see a lot of lab, and his head reminds me of a rottweiler. While I can see why someone might suggest Rhodesian Ridgeback, I would feel comfortable betting cash that he doesn't have even a tiny bit of that breed in him.

Hi and welcome!! Mad props to you for adopting a shelter dog. He sure is a beautiful boy with a very sweet face.
Now, to my non-expert eyes I see rottie, pit bull and lab. He really looks like a lab in the pic where he's under the table.
Did you know you can now do DNA testing on your dog for pretty cheap?
Check out this thread. http://www.discussdogs.com/forum/f48/dna-test-results-6969/
If you decide to have him tested, you just MUST come back and post his results.

Why would you rule out the Rhodesian? They are becoming pretty popular around here and I have seen many unaltered.

I know they are popular in some areas, but they are still fairly rare and mostly owned by breed people in most places. When I hear hoofbeats, I think horses first.
If this dog were in your area, and maybe he is, then I may have to lose that bet!
