It takes a lot of patience. I used to let mine fall asleep. Once in a deep sleep, I'd pick her up and put her in the crate, but, like a baby, they wake up often. I had several near sleepless nights until she was able to stay in for 4 hour time periods. She'd wake up, I'd take her out to pee and then put her right back in. Sometimes I would sit on the floor outside of the crate, rock her to sleep and put her back in. Feed her meals in the crate - associate it with good things and eventually it will work. She sleeps in the crate now with no problem. Don't worry...be patient!
