Ok ya doing crate training, something I just don't do.

I do know dogs and if he dog is makeing noise and it is keeping you awake, then just move the dang crate father away from you. If I ever did crate training, I would make cerain my smell was in he crate. Dog need bedding, so rub your bare feet on it. Human smell often comforts a dog.

Wearing out the dog can be good before bed also. Doesn't matter what you teach a dog, if tired enough, a dog sleeps more than most humans, sans teenagers, I was one of them once. Walk your dog/pup before going to bed and/or putting it in a crate. Ya can play ball with the dog if not a walk or something that gives the dog exercise. Dont let the dog sleep much when you are home and dog might try to take a cat nap. Dogs love to nap, if there is excitement, petty much all dogs will for ecitement vs nap. It and be a ball tose, it can be the human just asking the dog it it is tired dog. In any case the dog wakes up and needs to slep when the dang human is not mainging it difficusl for a good dog dream.

None of my dogs are crate trained, used one once for a short term to correct a dog behavior I didn't want. Overalll, if a dog is barking at night, then it ain't tired. If a human is not tired do they not bother other humans with talk that bothers them?

Just from the time you get home to the time for bed, try to keep the dog up and not deep sleep. It can be when the dog seems to be real comfortalble, say and point to the TV and say isn't that great. Don't much matter what you do, just don't let the dog do a dog nap for real.

Also, at night dog protection goes off in a dog and they will try to force their eyes open to protect the sleeping human. If you have an all day party or an all day dog excitement, then dog or dogs might sleep not just for the night but next day. Dogs need more sleep than humand cause as my dad said they sleep with one eye open when sleeping. Their is no reason to put up with dog noises when you are asleep. BTW, I won't take barking out of any dog at night cause that is their job.

That's a good idea. But if you look at the date of the posts, the dog is now two years old, and hopefully sleeping through the night.

No I'm glad you answered. There are many situations here where other owners will come and look for answers, and you have helped by giving one, thank you.

We got out puppy when he was 13 weeks old and he also was crying non stop at night. We ended up moving him to our bed at night which is typically not recommended by professional dog trainers, BUT- it worked for us. I can not sleep without my dog being next to me now and it helps both of us. I also know some people got their puppy to sleep in their crate by keeping the crate right next to the bed letting the pup know that they are right next to him, that helps too. Good luck with your new little one, how exciting!!

Best wish,
Dogsweatergirl
