crate training

I have a 5 month old german shepherd puppy, plus 3 grown german shepherds. I have crate trained all of my dogs first and then house trained them. My puppy is quite a piece of work. He is a sweet boy but every time i put him in his cage, he will look right at me and go to the bath room. He knows he is not supposed to and every time he does it he gets scolded for it. I will walk him and have him out in yard for hours and the second i close the cage he goes pee and poop. I think he is doing it just to spite me for putting him in the crate. He is such a good boy besides his potty habits. Anyone have any suggestions? Im at a lose because my other dogs caught on quite quick to the crate training...

First off, stop scolding him. When he goes in the crate, your scolding him is making the crate seem like a punishment, rather then the happy den it SHOULD be. Just pick him up, take him outside, and give him a command, (go potty, go pee, something to that affect) and treat him each and every time he does. Have you tried feeding him in the crate? Dogs won't (usually) eliminate in the areas where they eat/sleep, so this might help him a bit. Just stop scolding him, it's not helping.
