what the title said..

Iam good with dogs, not so good with people. I work in the pet trade, so have many customers..., and occasionally see people online asking for advice that have one thing in common...too many pets.

Don't get me wrong...there are many people out there with many animals, that can care for them...heck I have five dogs...thats an insane number to most people.. for som' people *ahem my neighbors cough* two dogs is two too many.

but when the people start complaining about behavior issues, that are obviously coming from there simply not being enough attention or supervision to go around in the household...or customers, that start to complain about how they can't afford to feed everyone...but yet want to buy more...

Or for example, I had a girl I was friends with, that on the surface seemed like a good snake keeper/breeder...then I visit her house and EVERY single snake had no water and feces in the cages (this species poops maybe MONTHLY) she had several hundred animals. She didn't even saying a thing about it....like it was normal.

I mean, how to do tell som'one they are over their head and not have them get offended? I mean, obviously if you offend them, you lose them, and then you get nowhere..

the answer for severe people is to call AC...but many of the people in question, I do not know where they live.

for example also, right now, there is a woman on another forum that has close to double digits in dogs and they are fighting...she is already exercising, training, NILIF'ing...etc...honestly, she just likely has too many...she kept a whole litter of puppies because she couldn't bare to part with them....

*sigh* thoughts? Help?

Welcome to our 15th photo contest. Congratulations to Revelladee who won the last contest. The new theme is "Football" Have fun!

**********************

Rules for posting:

You may interpret the theme as you please. Your submission does not need to be dog related.

Share as many pics as you'd like that fit the theme, but only ONE can count toward the contest. Please mark your entries by giving them a NAME, and if you post extra photos make sure your entry is the first picture in your post, so we can easily refer to them when it comes to poll time. Feel free to post a description of the picture and why you think it best fits the theme. Votes should be placed based on interpretation of theme and the subject matter, NOT necessarily the best quality photo (this helps make things fair since not everyone has the same kind of camera, experience, etc!)

Only one other rule: please make sure your pics are a forum-friendly size (keep them under 800pixels wide) so they are easy to see.

The contest will run through Friday and then judging will occur over the weekend in a 48 hour poll. The winner of the contest will get to choose the next theme so everyone start thinking about what you'd like it to be!

Good luck!

**********************

Rules for Voting:

1. You are not choosing the best photographer, you are choosing the photo you feel is the best representative of each week's theme.

2. You MAY vote for your own photo, if you feel so inclined.

3. Only one vote per person; you can vote even if you did not enter the contest- I would encourage everyone to participate in the voting so we get a better sampling of opinions.

The poll will close 48 hours from the creation of the poll. The winner will get to choose next week's theme. Those of you who have participated, start thinking of a theme in case you win. Thanks for posting your pics and good luck!

Contest themes so far with our first theme chosen by Sol:
#1. Water, winner: Tulip
#2. Hands, winner: StarfishSaving
#3. Escape, winner: echoica

Libby, golden retriever/poodle mix, had to have a tooth pulled on Thursday. Her mouth is doing fine. She is on antibiotics and pain meds. Where they shaved her to insert the iv is where the problem lies. She has licked the area raw! I now have hydrocortisone creme on it and I wrapped it with gauze and loosely wrapped an ace bandage over it.
Any other suggestions are welcome! I want to make sure she doesn't lick at it!
Thanks for your input!!

Blue was born 5 weeks before my Brutus died. No dog can ever replace Brutus, but I love Blue way too much, as I did Brutus. Brutus and Blue are the most exceptional and special dogs I have ever known. Totally different breeds - same hearts.
Blue has to be boss. Rowdy (his brother) took over the pack when Blue was injured and was down from surgery for 2 weeks, but Blue fought back when he got well and is now the alpha again. What a dog. He is a human in a dog's body. I'm going to see if my daughter can post a photo of my cattle dogs so you can see them. I don't have a "real" computer, but my daughter does. Blue has a perfect LARGE white cross on his head. I call it a star but it actually looks like a crucifix. Bye for now.

I love my dog, but she worries me because she acts like she may bite someone someday. She is also getting aggressive toward other dogs. I cannot afford to take her to a trainer. I adopted her from the pound because I needed a watch dog. I have loved many dogs in my life but none of them worried me like this one does. My Brutus was the dog love of my life and he was half Doberman and half Golden Retriever. He died from a Golden Retriever cancer at age 11. I almost wanted to die with him.
I wish Malia was like Brutus, but I don't want to love a dog that much again anyway. I will keep Malia but will always have to keep after her to behave herself. She shows great love for me, my friend George, my daughter, my grand-daughters and my grand-daughter's boyfriend but she has no use for anyone else.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great summer. I was offline for about a month before we moved to our new place. It's been a busy summer, getting settled into our new town house. Luke loves it here. We have a fenced in back yard for him to have his zoomies in lol, we've explored the entire neighborhood, went swimming for the first time, made some new great dane friends at our local dane meetups I began last spring. The new neighborhood took some getting used to, as it's a different area of town, not as...well...nice...as our old place, yet our house is much bigger and nicer :) Just have to get used to the kids. They're like army ants over here. Oh and the screaming hollaring cursing mothers and guys out in the street brawling all night lol but other than that we do love it.

Luke's grown into such a handsome, wonderful young man. He's still very much his Mamma's boy though, will be til the end. He will be some happy when Tyler goes back to school and he has me all to himself lol. He doesn't like to share me much, but I don't mind :)

Anyway I just thought I'd check in...I had posted a few new pictures last week but forgot about updating you all lol. Have a great night/day and I'll see you on the boards. Jenn & Luke

I decided to start my own thread on this topic so as not to hijack Kat's ( I have a tendency to do that :p)
Starfish you mentioned in last thread that Toby has a lot of infections. So does my dog. After grooming he has more of the those little pimples ( folliculitus ) which maybe is related to the shaving if it is ingrown hairs.?? Anyone seen this after a groom??The vet has said that he does seem to have poor immunity as he has had his share of rare infections. (at least three in a year ) That is why I started thinking more about it when I read your post about the staph. I have been hoping it will get better due to maturing of his system :)and not the other way around :( I should take my own advice to Kat and not worry so much :p
