 Hello, I have a 7 and 1/2 year old chocolate lab who has been through two crutiate ligament tears in both back legs. About a year ago, I was petting her and brushing her and I felt a hard lump on her right side. It is after the rib cage but before her hip bone. Kind of in the indentation. It feels nonmoveable and hard. IT is the size of a half dollar. It is not really getting any larger. I think though that it feel more prominent now if that makes sense. My son feels it is just because she is losing weight due to summer and running around more. She was supposed to lose 5 lbs for the vet because he felt she was overweight. The vet has been keeping track of it and feels it did not get any larger. I am getting nervous though because even though it is not any larger if just feels more prominent. Like I said it does not move and is hard. She doesn't seem to mind it either and a stranger would not even see it unless he pressed on her side. One can't see it unless they press.
Also, she sometimes leaks urine on my floor. She dribbles urine also. It does not happen daily but it seems like once or twice a week. She could just be laying and then a puddle forms behind her.
The vet felt it was not happening often enough to put her on medication.

I would like to know some thoughts on what her lump could be the result of and what the urine trouble is.
Thanks

Our older lab mix who is around 11 has a deposit similar to that that the vet said to keep an eye on. She said it was a fatty deposit, and if it doesn't enlarge very much, it's nothing to worry about. She said if he gets sensitive about it to get it checked out again just in case. My good friends huge mutt used to get what were like large air pockets, he had a few removed because they were the size of grapefriuts. He passed away unrelated to the growths...anyway, if you are real worried I'd get another vets opinion if youre in doubt, otherwise, just continue to keep a watchful eye and groom regularly.

Is she fixed, or has she had litters in the past? I've known some dogs who had a bit of a leaky bladder because they had had litters and the stresses, sort of similar to in some human women. If it's really bothersome to you, there are doggy diapers available in most pet stores, and reusable ones available online. Hope I'm of some help. Good luck!

If your dog is a female my dog has the same thing. As long as it doesn't get bigger or more start appearing it should be fine. But I saw this thing on Animal Planet, if more do appear or if the lump gets larger it might have to get surgery:( So like your vet said just keep an eye on it. Hope this helped!
