If you're serious about a bully, just be prepared to do intense socialization, training, and paying a chunk of change for one. They aren't all that popular, although since Westminter, there's a surge, but, they can be very spunky dogs.

I've always liked miniature pinschers but about 3 of every 5 i've known are yappers...

have you considered a shibu inu? they are very intelligent, generally friendly, small, and good looking dogs. they can be protective too.

These Guys Arent To Small But Not Huge Either. I Think The Enlgish Bulldog Is A Great Additon To Any House. They Love To Love And Lounge But Are On The Job When Comes To Protecting What Is Theirs. Mine Is 4 Months Old Took Me 2 Weeks To Potty Train Very Smart And Already On The Job To Protect Me. Good Luck!! And May Your New Little Guy Or Gal Bring You As Much Joy As Max Our Bullie Has Given Us :d

Nope, our staffie bulls are the same as yours, but we also have a larger version, the american staffordshire terrier, also known as amstaff. I love a staffie bull though- one of my favorite small breeds!

Thanks for that I wasn't sure :D

Are they (English Staffs ) popular over in America? They are very popular over here.

Sorry going a bit off topic here.

no, you don't see too many english staffies over here. They're around, but (thankfully) you can pretty much only find them from show breeders right now. I'm sure there are a few byb's around that have them, but at least in Texas they're hard to come by, and if you do find them they're not cheap!

Bull terriers and Staffy Bulls are both great dogs but have different personalities.

Now though if you are looking for a guard I wouldn't get a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Though many would be intimidated by their looks they really are too people oriented to be "good" guard dogs IMO.

I'm not sure about Bull terriers with that aspect of guarding as I haven't had enough experience with them to comment besides they are loving stubborn clowns of dogs LOL

I find that the Staffy Bulls overseas tend to be larger than the ones here for the most part from what I've seen

An Amstaff is NOT a larger version of a SBT they are very different breeds and not just in size.

Here is the Staffy Bulll (SBT) standard and info:

They are very commmon in th US

Here is the Amstaff:

More on the Mini Bull terrier:

Rufus th Westminster winner is a regular Bull terrier not a mini

With any dog breed but more so with a bully breed you will have to grow a think skin because thanks to the media and many irresponsible owners some think all bull breeds are monsters. Also beware of BSL and check in your area for it as often SBT and Bull terriers are lumped into the BSL categories with Amstaffs and APBTs

You can check that out on the ADOA website legislation clearing house section

They are smart eagar to learn, but can be strong willed and stubborn as well. They need a lot of exercise to be kept happy and a ton of human contact

Good luck with your decision! Bully breeds are awesome! I LOVE them all!

I tend to agree with this- I had a student who had a pair of staffy bulls, one day he was outside with the pair while they went to the bathroom. he was huddling on the side of his house to avoid the cold wind, and he heard his chain link fence rattling. He looked around the corner of his house just in time to see some guy with his hands under one of the dog's arm pits, trying to drag her over the fence! She would have been perfectly happy to go with him, too.

Ps... I know am staffs are not a larger version of the same dog, but they're both staffordshire terrier types- and she was asking if we had staffs here... My bad for not clarifying...

I figured that, but wanted to clear it up for the person who is looking for the dog ;)
