About 1 month ago, I got a call from a freind who's nephew left on vacation declaring that when he and his family returned, they didn't want their dog there (they're getting ready to move to another state). They didn't care what happened to her, she just needed to be gone. So my freinds took her home with them, but since they have a very sensitive Chihuahua who doesn't like other dogs, I got a call.

Leah was a 4 yr old female spayed shepherd mix with a friendly, happy personality. She's great with kids and other dogs, and got along just fine here (but I didn't want another dog - our next will be a Golden Retriever and only after our old gal moves over to the rainbow bridge). I took her in to work (Vet clinic) and got her up to date on vaccines. Her only problem was evident then... her body structure suggests she should be aobut 60-70lbs, when she climbed on the scale she weighed in at 107  !!! So I brought home a bag of diet food, and put her on a strict regimen.

I am happy to say we sent her to her new home yesterday, bag of diet food in tow, with a single mom who has two daughters and a new house with a big yard! She called last night and emailed today raving about how Leah is so wonderful and fits in so well there! Her youngest is very shy and her and Leah are apparently inseparable. I'm just so happy it all worked out so well!
