On average what age does a dog start to lose their puppy teeth?

Pups start to lose their deciduous (baby) teeth when they are 4 months old and should have a full set of adult teeth by the time they reach 6 months. The exception to this is some small breed dogs, who can sometimes retain their baby teeth, which will share the same socket as the adult tooth making it look like they have 'double teeth'.

Yes, Toy Fox Terrier's, as with all toy breeds, tend to retain their deciduous teeth. Abby had to have her 4 canine deciduous teeth removed. Seji had to have all his lower front deciduous teeth removed. The vet or tech who pulled his teeth accidentally removed one of his permanent teeth and left one deciduous tooth. I left it since it filled a space. It did not fall out until he was 2 years old! He has had a gapped tooth smile ever since!:)
