My New Dog is Very Hyper

She is not a puppy but she has a lot of chew behavior. Also barks too much.
She always want to be the center of attention when you are busy doing anything else.
I do not want to give up on the dog, because I feel she was not trained right. But she does seem to want to do what she wants to do.
She has jumped over the fence in the back so now I tie her up.
She is an Italian greyhound/beagle mixed.

Things don't happen over night with a new dog. It doen't matter that she isn't a pup if she wasn't trained you have to start from square one. Most dogs like to get a lot of attention and need to be taught appropriate behaviors. Putting her on a tie out won't solve the problems that is more like a band aid to cover up an issue that needs training

It also sounds like she needs a ton of exercise. A tired dog is a better behaved one.

What have you done to work with her so far?

Good luck with her and if you have specific questions post them so we can better help you with her issues.

Sounds like an interesting mix... post some pictures

How is your dog doing? I just read this and wondered if you could update about her. Thanks!

Thank You She is Doing Much Better

She will always be a high energy dog but the constant barking has stopped.
GB and Trixie get along much better now and actually enjoy each other's company.
I will never give up on a dog. No one would give up on their children.

I like your statement about not giving up on the dog!! It takes time and energy but it is well worth it in the end!
