I adopted another dog from a rescue. She is a female Italian greyhound and beagle mixed. My other dog is a male scottish terrier. Both are a little over a year old.
Both dogs are very dominant. The female is a little bigger than the male so she tends to be the most pushy.
It seems both do anything they can to irritate the other. They steal each other's pigs ears and compete for my attention.
They also tore up all of the dog toys. Each will pull an end till the toys rip.
Every time they play it gets out of hand and becomes a dog fight.
Each always wants the other's toy. Both are very hyper dogs too.

in my experiance i would just give them time to adjust to each other. i have had several dogs that didn't get along at first, now they get along just fine.
as for the toys amke two boxes up and put the exact same toys in each one and show them that thier box is the only one that they can get toys from. the word "no" usally works just fine. if not, something a little more harsh may be required.

With two dominate dogs it helps to set rules and boundries. A good tool to use in this situation would to be crate training both of the dogs. Now crate training is not something where you use in declipen methods only!! If a dog is crate trained properly, they will veiw the crate as their own room. This is their own seperate places where if they are upset with the other one, they can get away! It is also helpful if things get out of hand you can seperate them. One way to start or encourage this would to be putting the crates on seperate ends of the room/house. Go ahead and feed each of them in their crates to help estblish which one is which. During this introduction period, it is also very important to give your "older" dog a little extra love and support to re assure them you are not replacing them. As well with working with your new dog to establish the rules and boundries of your home. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me at Ssammiewh@aol.com
