Digging in water bowl

Our pup keeps digging like in dirt, but in her full water bowl. The water is fine. Why would she do this?

She probably thinks it's great fun! My doberman loves to play in his water bowl. Since I work from home I only give him water outside and let him out about 4 times a day for access to the water because he makes a huge mess in the house.

I have a square trough like thing for my dogs water ,my husky mishka likes to dig in this water trough ,she gets really excited whenn she's doing it too. funny girl ,they must do this digging in water just for the joy of doing it:) :)

this can be for a number of reasons.
1. this is fun.
2. this is to keep cool.
3. they see thier reflection and think it's another dog.
4. this is alot of fun!

My Female Husky and our W.D. does this behavior also and i have asked this question before too..

i have seen wolves do this in the wild in winter,.they will pounce with straight front legs onto ice to break it,and then dig to make a wider hole to drink from...why they do this in the warm months in the water bowl is beyond me,but looks exactly like the wolf behavior i have seen..

Interesting observation. That could explain it. Just a natural instict they still have coming out. Probably just fun as well.

Dogs are smart creatures...This behavior makes more work for me,as i hate to see me pups drinking dirty paw water..lol

i know i wouldnt want to drink the water my feet were in! lol

going to get a kiddie pool and fill it with water to see how the pups react in it...should be interesting..

Our Bulldog Plays In His Water Bowl The Spills All The Water On The Floor. He Then Lays In Rolls Around In The Water And Just Wags His Tail And Hops Around. Like Water Is The Best Invention Ever. Then He Lays Down In It To Cool Off On A Hot Summer Day.
