make sure to keep it as clean as possible as well.

Hope your dog is doing better soon. How bad is the cut?

Ouch! cuts on the foot can be tough to heal because of the weight place on them all the time- it keeps the wound from closing properly. Depending on where it is and how big you may wrap it with some gauze as well to help keep it clean for now. LOL- My boxer once got a cut on his foot pad and I didn't even know it was there because he wasn't limping or acting like it hurt, but once I discovered it and bandaged it he milked it for all it was worth! He was dragging his foot around like it was broken or something! When the bandage came of he was fine but as long as he had it wrapped you could forget it- he was a most pitiful sight!

I would clean it with peroxide and use one of the ointments mentioned earlier and wrap if necessary. Good luck!

One of my dogs has just recovered froma nasty cut on her pad,(rear foot) I took her to the vets, whi didnt want to stitch it as although it was deep it was a neat slice, so we cleaned it and bandaged it, everyday I washed it with salt water, dried it and replaced clean bandage, it has taken about 3 weeks to heal up but now its getting tough again and she walks as though nothing has happened, I would just wash daily with salt water.

Many natural products are both antibacterial and healing. You didn't say how severe the cut-keeping your dog from licking the site is very important.
Home remedies-Honey is antibacterial and great for burns too.
Plain "Massengill" douche is known as a wound healing wash by "old time" vets-it healed my dog's ear irratation when no vet ointment did.
Various Natural salves/ointments from health food stores are great-people items work great. Also, look online at natural health pet sites.
Calandula cream (homeopathic-made from marigolds) works good-and smells good so I have to keep dogs from licking it.
Good luck.
