My sister has a mix breed poodle that is chewing her paws until they bleed. I have mentioned that allergies can have a lot to do with this. Has anyone had any success stories they can share?

chewing
Two of my dogs had severe food and environmental allergies that developed into yeast infections in their ears and feet between their pads. My Iz would lick her feet raw, and my Tobe would chew his backside and it would scab over then bleed. If thats to sort of thing you mean, we've been managing it with a higher quality diet, benedryl in the summer, and yeast cleaner from the vet. Its much improved. Hope this helps. It may be useful to look it up on a search engine like google and she should consult their vet.

Luke chewed his paws until I stopped feeding him food with chicken in it. I guess I have it narrowed down that he's allergic to chicken. He doesn't chew anymore.

Thanks
I will pass on what has been suggested. I know that some dogs are successful on very strict diets of meat that is not known to these parts. One brand of dog food uses kangaroo meat. Another uses salmon.
Her vet did suggess the benadryl. |

I tried the benadryl on Luke. No success.
