I am a first time puppy owner - a 4 month old golden retriever. He is very friendly toward strangers and doesn't normally bark at other dogs but he has started growling and barking at his reflection in the windows at night. I have tried to calm him down but it is just getting worse. Does anyone have any insight?

I can't tell you exactly why he's doing it, sometimes my dogs get so excited they bark at their reflections, but if you are responding to the behavior by trying to calm him down by talking to him soothingly or something while he's doing it, you're encouraging the behavior. Try telling him no firmly when he starts, guide him away from the window, and distract him with toys or training. You could also work on the quiet command. I'd suggest getting a good training book and work on commands that would deter him from the behavior, and if he sees his reflection and doesn't react badly, praise him for it.Thats all I could say about it, if its not too much of a problem he'll probably get over it in time or get bored with it, but if not, you should maybe consult someone and definitly contine socializing him.

Anytime my dog sees an animal on television he barks and ends it with a wine,
I do not know if he is whining because he cannot dominate the other dogs. Or maybe because he is lonley.
