Could a shock collar be lethal much like a taser is on humans?

I don't think they're necessary and would never consider using one on my dogs.

It depends on the type of training you are doing and the necessity of having as near flawless performance as possible. The proper use of electronics is often misunderstood by those that are not familiar with them or have heard nothing but horror stories. Properly used, it can be a very effective device. While I certainly see no need in the use of electronice with 99% of the pet population, there are certain instances where the proper use of electronics in invaluable in the working dog section of the world.

Thre first thing to remember is you have to train the dog, then you use the ecollar to tighten up the performance.
Diggity,
It's funny how the media tries to manipulate people into thinking the taqser and other devices are lethal. When I was a corrections officer we had the belt we used for transport, talk about a ride. I wore that thing and it goes for 8 seconds after being activated. I'm still alive.
