I took my dog to the groomer so they could cut him up like a scottie.
It appears he did not enjoy it at all. He seems to find it more traumatizing than getting neutered at the vet.
The groomer said he wailed like a baby. He hates to be combed and brushed.
My dog watches television. People look at me condescending when I say this. But this is the first dog that watches television in spurts.
There was a television show called"Dirty Jobs". They had a man working as a dog groomer. My dog howled and carried on as though he was relating to their suffering.
Do dogs miss their hair when it is cut? Maybe they find getting the butt washed degrading. My dog seems like he does not enjoy going and I would hesitate to send him back.
My dog has allowed me to bath him and even seemed to enjoy it.

I do all my own grooming so don't have much experience with groomers. You can try next time to give him a dose of Rescue Remedy about 30 min. before going to the groomer if he really upsets him. You might also consider investing in some good clippers and doing the grooming yourself...it'll save you lots of money in the long run.

As for missing their hair, I think it depends on how dramatic the cut. Last year I shaved down my powderpuff into a hairless cut (due to a new product nightmare that caused SEVERE matting) and he refused to eat for a week unless I hand fed him. He HATED having the breeze on his butt and it wasn't until he had some fuzz on his behind that he started eating again and that tail came out from between his legs.

Most dogs do enjoy baths, it's like a mini-massage for them. My current foster dog moans & groans with pleasure when I shampoo him.

My dogs watch TV...I leave Animal Planet on for them daily while we're at work.

I am a groomer and I have had lots of dogs that don't like it. I think that if you are not satisfied with this groomer you should try a different one. Also you can brush your dog while watching tv together. It gets them used to being brushed. You could also bring him to the groomers more often so he can get used to it. Some dogs do miss their hair and others act like they are glad to be rid of it. And I don't think it is weird for dogs to watch tv either. I also leave it on for mine.
