Hi! I'm Hayley! I am 13, and have loved and lived around dogs all my life. I currently only have 2 dogs, Findlay and Abbie, 4 gerbils, Sterling, Nixie, Nutty and Maggie and 10 fish.

Findlay is a bearded collie who loves most people to death, along with tennis balls, yoghurt drops and finding ways to escape from the clutches of the leash.

Abbie is a shih tzu. She is *barely* three years old, and still acts like a puppy. She is very loyal and well trained, and I love her to pieces (the feeling is mutual).

I spend every moment I can either playing with the dogs, gerbils or my piano, but lately I've been busy with after-school activities. :( I think the dogs are a little insulted!

I'm glad this forum was reccomended to me, other than the global paw, many of the other dog forums I've been on are unfriendly and I always feel uncomfortable explaining that both my dogs are from breeders (regretfully) ;) :p.

Hi Hayley. I am new here too. Sounds like you have quite the gang at home. Abbie and Findlay sound wonderful. I have Shih Tzu too. They are wonderful dogs.

No need to regret where your dogs come from... two of my 3 came from breeders. We're glad you're here! It's nice to see some younger folks putting time and effort into learning about dogs and who enjoy talking to others about it. Look forward to chatting with you!

Thanks! DiggityDogs, what kind of dogs do you have? :D Chacha, how is your shih-tzu's temperment? I've seen some before that are very hyper and growl at every passing person, but I've heard this is a characteristic of small dogs. Alot of my friends, before they met Abbie used to say "I hate small dogs!" Then they met her.

Abbie is our shih-tzu, but all of them have been very calm and willing! I've never seen another breed of dog like this. Abbie is definitely the most docile of all of them. She has never *ever* growled *in her whole life* at anyone (except for Maggie, Nixie and Nutty) or bitten anyone. With cats, she wants to play, and before he died, her best friend was my gerbil Phoenix! (he died very tragically, and Abbie, being the sponge for emotion she is, also was very upset. She hated Maggie, Nixie and Nutty, I think because they used to dart around the cage like there was something chasing them!)

Anyhoo, sorry for long post, just been wondering about shih-tzus' temperment for a while!

Emily is 15 months old. She is very sweet and playful. She is not hyper. When she is outside, she will bark at people and dogs that walk by the house. My lab Fred does that too. She might have learned it from him. LOL My husband didn't like the idea of a small dog. But after a few days with her, he could imagine her not being with us.
