Hi, I have an 11 month old Standard puppy who is going through the terrible twos. I own a grooming salon and he likes to grab clients which include the dogs and the people with his mouth. He is not biting down, just grabbing. The other thing he does is charge the front gate barking whenever he hears the door open. This behavior has to be corrected, but it is a busy shop and I don't know where to begin. I think he wants to be the center of attention and is just being a brat. He sometimes scares my clients if they don't know he is a puppy and one of these days he's going to grab the wrong dog with his mouth. HELP!!!!!!!

he thinks he owns the shop, you can practice making him sit or laying down away from the door while people enter and correct him the second he shows aggresive or incorrect behavior. you have to take control by not allowing him to behave that way. when people come in have them ignore him, and not even look at him and pretend hes not there until the situation is fixed. practice opening and closing the front gate with just you and him and then advance to other people opening it, correct him when he acts inappropriate and praise him when hes good.

Sounds like your dog likes to think that the shop is his "home field." That is normal behavior for a dog. I would begin by making sure he always is behind you when walking around inside the house.. Number one... He likes to jolt ahead of you and be in charge.. make sure that when anyone comes to your front door.. Correct him, and put him behind you. At home or in the grooming shop. By constantly and consistently doing this, he will also not run by you and push you to the side. This will be more safe for you and the dog as you will not trip on him, and not fall--or fall on him. By doing this at home with the front door, every time you answer-pick him up and put him behind you.. That way the dog will learn that it is your home and that you are the leader..
