Car Riding
My dog seems to be very fearful in the car. He is always excited to go for a ride. He will never jump in the car and pulls back. When he is in the car he tries to cling to me and jump on my lap.
I bought him a doggie seat belt-but he still seems fearful while in the car.

don't console him when he is acting fearful,,this just reinforces the behavior, and makes him think its ok to act scared,,make it positive,,give him praise when he sits like he is suppose to. what kind of dog?

Well, I cured that with the drive-in milk store, they give out doggy treats!
Also, short and sweet rides, and always played with her in the yard after a short ride, so she eventually saw it as "go out, get treat, come home, play outside", = car rides are fun!

My pup was scared to death of the car when i got her...I fed her yummy treats everytime we were in the car, and took her to the pet store (where she loved to go!) which is about 2 miles from our house, and random parks to play, even if only for 10 mins, every time I got a chance. It took a couple of months, but now she loves the car! and well get into it as soon as I open the door since she associates it with only good things, and she knows she'll wind up somewhere really fun once she gets in!
