Yuk, I know! My dogs have the awful habit of occassionally breaking into where the kitty litter boxes are, and stealing "candy bars" as my dad would call them. Its so nasty, and I was wondering if there are harmless products or something I could put in my cats' food to make their feces taste bad to the dogs, or any good litter box containment structures I could buy or preferably replicate. Thanks, Becca

I don't know of anything that would detour this,,what the dog smells in the "candy bars" is food,,their nose's are so sensitive that they miss the bad smell and smell the good,,have your dog wormed and put the litter box where he can't get it,,easier said then done of cours

In my first house I simply put up a baby gate in the bathroom doorway, with a small hole in the bottom of the gate for the cat.
Now we have the box in an area that is blocked by a board - about 2 feet high. The dogs that did surf the litter box can't get over that. :)

We have always called the litter box the "Snack Shack" LOL ....since we have the covered litter box, I was able to take the box, and turn the opening towards the wall, and then push the box up against the cabinet in the bathroom. We leave the box far enough away from the wall for the cat to slink in...but the dogs dont try to turn the box around. I also put a rubber no slip mat under the box, so that if they were to try and slide the box around it doesnt budge.

Thanks guys...The biggest problem right now is my pup who's small enough to fit into the holes or passageways that only the cats used to be able to fit into...but she's a growing girl so hopefully she'll be too big soon. But in the mean time I'll try your suggestions, thanks!
