So I am posting from one end of the spectrum to another...
I just posted on my rat terrior Maggie who is as high anxiety as you can get. Now I have a final question on my Black Lab Mix named Buddy. Buddy is so laid back that I actually use him as a therapy dog both in my private practice and at the Mental Health agency I work at.

I am wondering if I am humanizing him too much though... when we are home in the evenings he just sits on the couch all night. He may chew a bone for 3-5 minutes but then that is it. Even when he has had a quiet day he just lounges.

Is this normal? I don't know what I expect him to do, but he appears really bored. He used to like to chew squeaky toys (cloth) but I wasn't able to watch him as closely as I would like and he ended up digesting a few too many. Any suggestions?

I was going to say, yes that's perfectly normal for a dog that is a low energy dog. He get's to work with you, so he's getting activity, it's sounds like he's quite content. However you mentioned he's eaten some squeeky toys. Some times those won't pass and can make a dog ill. When was the last time he ate one?

About a year ago. Since he digested one, he has NEVER gotten another one LOL. Yikes! I had never had a dog eat one before so now he only gets bones:)

Seriously!!! It is just so weird to have two completely different dogs, but it was a weird situation from the beginning. My little liabilty never fought this dog, and this dog just walked in the house and plopped down. No issues, ever. Thank heavens!
