i've decided i'm going to try and train my new pit ozzie to do some service work like i had been doing with my last pit bull. i'm a type 1 diabetic and i know the chances of successfully training my dog to medically alert me when my sugar goes low might never happen but i want to go ahead and teach him to at least pick up and bring me the phone, glucose tablets, soda, etc. even if i cant get him good enough to be certified at least i can keep him stimulated mentally.
has anyone here ever trained to do any of those "tricks"? ozzie is 14 weeks old and housebroken. he already know sit, down, shake, high five, leave it and wait. we're working on staying for longer periods and started on take it (picking things up) so i'd say things are going nicely. even though he has a lot of his basics down i still plan on taking him to some sort of formal training once i can get money. i just wanted to see if anyone here had done this and hopefully get some advice and stuff.
i'll keep everyone updated on how things go none the less!
