puppy scared of everything.

i have this 5 month old half rat terrior half chiuhuha. when we got him at the breeder he was a little timid but came to me and my girlfriend. its been 5 months and he's scared of everything. i try to pick him up he pees everywhere. i go to pet him he cowers and runs away. ive tried everything. i also have a yr old female same breed whos great the little one just follows her around and doesnt want anything to do with me or my girlfriend. hes always scared of us and just follows the older dog around. need help cause i'm ready to give him up for adoption cause i'm sick of everytime someone touches him theres pee everywhere..

How old was your pup when you got him? I curious, perhaps he was taken away from his mother at a very young age, this could explain the reason he follows your older dog around, he feels safe. Do you scold him/punish him when he pees in fear? If so, that might be one way of explaining his fear of you. My advice would be to try treats, try coaxing him to you with treats, slow hand movements (as not to startle him into peeing) and gentle voice, loads of praise. Don't give up on him yet! There is hope, you just have to have a little bit of patience, and a whole lot of love.
