My 7 year old Lhasa Apso acts so strangely after grooming. He constantly runs around the house whinning and crying, shaking head, acts ashamed or "in trouble" or wants to go outside and comes right back in-over and over.
He has always done this and I hate to have him groomed because he acts strange for at least a week afterward. Any suggestions on this strange behaviors?

Diggity's advice is good if it's strictly behavioral. I just wanted to add to it, though, from a medical standpoint: could he be having a reaction to something that the groomer uses on him? Maybe something irritates his skin? Next time you take him, ask for hypoallergenic shampoo and NO cologne.

Might just be because he feels different after a grooming. Heck, I feel different after a haircut.

My mom's little poodle Rusty used to act weird after the first few groomings, he would run around crying, and rubbing himself on the carpet. After a visit to the vet, we found that he was having an allergic reaction to the shampoo being used on him by the groomer. A quick switch to hypo-allergenic did the trick. Maybe your dog could possibly be allergic to what is being used on him as well? I would look into it, find out what they use on your dog when he's being groomed. Perhaps possibly switching groomers to see if the behavior changes might be an option?
