Hello!

I am new to these forums, and an still researching on dogs. I am 13 years old, and in Ontario. So far, I like these two breeds:

1. Shiba Inu
2. Collie

1. Shiba Inu because they seem very intelligent, and playful. They are also able to live indoors.

2. Collie because they are VERY intelligent, one of my dad's friends has one, and because of the Simpsons episode where Bart gets a new dog named Laddie, a collie. :p!

I just wanted to know if anyone had any comments on which puppy I should get. (I will get a puppy at the age of 8 weeks old, right after their injections, de-worming etc.

See ya!

i agree, very different breeds. Kudos to you for doing some research, but be aware that what you read won't totally explain what the dog is like. Most dog books are going to say that their dog is 'intelligent, faithful, and energetic'. I would suggest meeting a few of them in person. You already have had an experience with a collie, which is great, but maybe see if you can meet with some at a rescue, that way you get a real feel for the variety of personalities that can come in each breed as adults, not just puppies, because all puppies are cute but that doesn't mean they're the dog for you! And maybe you'll find one that suits your wishes while you're at it ;)

Thanks a lot everybody!

I do think that training a collie would be a lot easier, but I like shiabas more right now. They seem very nice and fun!

You must first decide what you want the dog for,to play sports, lay around the house, lay in your lap, chase a ball....etc...And then pick the breed accordingly.Nothing worse then getting a breed that doesnt suit your lifestyle or what you have plans to do with your new dog.
Thats great of you to be concenred about that.:)
