why is he doing it???

Kirby constantly has his foot in his mouth now. he sits there and chews on it for so long i cant even stop him. he does it to two of his four paws. any reason for doing it???

My Boozer does that to all his paws. It was wierd, but i noticed that he bites his nails. He keeps them all trimmed except his little thumb nail. I met some guy that once told me after he got his dogs nails clipped and they clipped a little too close, his dog always took care of her nails after that. lol I checked out the previous posts link and i definetly am going to make sure that my Boozer doesnt have a problem, but i just thought id offer my idea.

Allergies to something in the environment (chemicals on your lawn, in the air, etc) are a common cause. Sometimes all it takes is washing his feet when he comes back inside from going potty. Sometimes food allergies can cause irritated feet. On bad days, you could probably give Kirby half a child's dose of Benadryl (always check with your vet, of course.)

If left for too long this can become a compulsive and even a mutilating habit. Hopefully it's not already!
