Oh boy did you crack me up with this post. My two guys think they are having farting contest. In the dead of winter I have to put my ceiling fan on and aircondition between the dogs and my husband forget it. I think it has alot to do with what they eat like people they get gas from certain foods.

I have been around all breeds my whole life and I thought my sisters Dobie mix had it locked up on the worlds worst gas...until we started rescuing Coonhounds!! Paint peeling nasty!

My Boston has HORRIBLE gas!!!
We usually have to leave the room!
It has gotten better- the vet sugested a teaspoon of plain yogurt on his food every day, he still farts, but it's not as smelly!

What kind of food are you all feeding. I don't have this problem w/ mine.
Thanks goodness LOL

You can also try either switching foods and or adding digestive enzymes to their food

I've heard feeding a tablespoon of plain yogurt everyday helps a bit, and the dogs LOVE it! My friend says it works with her greyhounds, but I don't think anything can help my dogs...haha...my boy is loud, girl is....just stinky...and even when I don't give them treats and only their dog food (Eukanuba) they still don't quit!

My luvable pit, Mickey used to have the WORST gas explosions I've ever smelled. He had been eating Purina then we tried science diet and he started loosing weight which wasn't good for an active boy like him. Anyway, we finally settled on Nutro which has been just wonderful. He likes it and so do my four other dogs.

My Boston can clear a room with his farts!! He will sit next to me and fart, then get up and move because even he cannot stand the smell. ;)

I have noticed with smaller dogs they seem to like to sleep at the top of your head. Is that because they will not get kicked off of the bed?

I heard Rawhide bones can contribute to smelly gas. I just switched my dog to Solid Gold Wolf king food and my eyes burn and I get sick to my stomach when that dog farts. It is so bad. Everytime he moves he farts. lol I was going to change his food, but I am going to try the yogurt first.

omg! Yes! We have a recent Dobe rescue (2 months) who can peel paint off the wall. I got some enzymes for both dogs' food and it's improved the cocker's bad breath tremendously.

but poor Tino, oh my goodness! They're better (less frequent) but he runs himself out of the room at times!

Both dogs are eating Nutro Ultra and love it.

I am new to this website, and am assuming I have logged into a mainly US site here - am I right.
The only reason I think that is that I log in to another site for rotties, and so many of them seem to have problems with doggie gas. Now I log into this one and find the same problem.
I am in the UK and feed my three rottweilers on a natural frozen meat plus blended veg and Deans mixer biscuit, plus SA37 vit & mins. seaweed powder, yeast powder and any other specific supplements, ie. glucosomine for my oldie. I have absolutely NO problems with gas at all. On an odd occassion I will hear the odd "pheewww", but no after smell at all. I do feed some live yoghurt, but not regularly, and certainly not enough to say it is that the keeps the gas away.
Truly, I really believe you have a food problem over there. I thought it might have just been the rottie site, and figured that it could be the breed over there but you have different breeds with the same problem so it is not breed related. When I go back on their site I will see what food they seem to come up with as being the best. Truly, if you want a dog with NO GAS AT ALL then see if it is easy enough to go with what I do. Our pet shops stock the frozen so it is easy enough here to get it. Best of luck.

Any time Geiger eats lamb, he gets room clearing farts. Dog forbid if I let him eat way too much lamb at one time, we're talking weapons grade gas!

You would hear "OMG" one person at a time as the smell of our golden retriever Boomer's emissions moved around the room. He would be asleep on his bed in the living room oblivious to what was going on. Sometimes, when they finally reached his nose he would wake up from his sleep, look back at his rear end, then get up & walk out of the room. Rest in peace sweet Boomer boy!

I've used yogurt for my two dogs (pug and gsd mix). I've also read that a slice of apple a day can help, my dogs love them! I usually only smell my pugs farts no lol... if she eats a new treat i've bought her. I don't feed my doggies human scraps, they just get their nutro, and skin/coat suppliments, and raw foods as treats/suppliments.
