Police are investigating the death of Rajah, the 14 year old poodle who came back from a groomer in bad shape and later died. I would hope that this groomer will receive a very tough sentence after the police investigation.

My heart goes out to the owners.

Isn't there any kind of licensing for pet services, like they have for day care or barbers and most others who provide care. What type of pet services are licensed and regulated? I've heard several stories lately on the internet about dogs who turn up dead after grooming.

Let's hope that relieve is on the way. Maryland legislature is trying to have a bill passed in Congress that all groomers must be licensed. That would put places like Pet Smart out of business when it comes to grooming. What a sad story. Poor Rajah...

Heard on the news tonight that Congress is very upset about this story. Keep you fingers crossed. Maybe the people will do what is right for the animals for a change!!!

Would that mean that everyone who works at a grooming shop would need licensed? I don't "groom" dogs, I bathe them for the groomers. I'm also not in Md so it wouldn't affect me but- wow.

However, a license isn't going to guarantee that people won't hurt a dog!
