Hello ... can you help?
Hello,
I have been researching mini schnauzers for quite some time and I am confident that this is is the breed for me. I really love dogs and I was recently I was approved to adopt a 1 year old mini schnauzer from the rescue in my area, but like most people I have to work full time (8:30am-4:30pm, Mon-Fri). I work only 5min from my house and will be going home for my lunch break (1hour) to check in and take the dog out. But I still feel bad about leaving the dog alone the rest of the time I am at work. Will he be ok? Should I back out of the adoption or is this perfectly normal for a dog? Thanks for any comments or suggestions. ~Ella |

He'll be fine most likely. Some dogs do have seperation issues but most are fine. I don't even know how many i have had and knock on wood i have never had an issue with leaving them alone all day. That is a fact of life for almost all house pets.

Good luck with the adoption. I have miniature schnauzers - they are wonderful little characters. I've always worked since I've had them & they're fine. You might want to confine the dog to 1 room at first when you're away from home until you know how the dog will deal with being alone. I had one who had separation anxiety for a short while and started chewing on things but eventually got over it. Others who could care less. The noon break is great!
Just remember that even though they're small, they needs lots of exercise. They love to walk & run. Have fun! |
