I have the message that I have 40 unread posts and when I click the link it says I have no new ones. What am I missing?

It is now only counting the messages that have been posted since your last visit. If a cookie or something was messed up it could think you've left the site and come back again, maybe. All the other posts that are unread but not posted since your last visit should still be on the page when you click on it.
