Hi there, Welcome to DD!!

When it comes to fosters I always:

1: A very long walk before coming into the house. This takes alot of the initial anxiety and frustrations out of the body, and it also a great way to get to know the dog and the dog know you.

2: The new foster dog is always on a leash or in a crate until I feel comfortable the dog can manage to live in my "kennel" also.

3: Let the training begin. Not every foster home does it, but I train the dogs as if they were going to be mine... forever... The foster is tested with regular events in the home and outside, so I have a idea if there is anything that sets the dog off.. The foster learns house rules, and the dog is also taught or has initial basic obedience under his belt. (depends how long the dog is here)

4. The foster is ALWAYS treated like a member of the family. He is loved here, he gets to do things will the other dogs, he is never annihilated from anyone.

Good Luck and thank you for fostering!! Fostering is the heartbeat of a rescue!!
