Today I was in the shower and if I take a shower and hubby isn't home Kujo lays right in front of the tub until I get out.Well today he was in his usual spot and hubby came home to drop me off some money for work, well he was test driving a customers car so he didn't have his house keys.Being city people we always keep the front door locked so I had to jump out of the shower to let him in and jump back in and since he didn't have his keys he couldn't re-lock the door. When I got out of the shower I noticed Kujo wasn't in the bathroom.I dried off and went into the living room and there he was laying in front of the front door.I'm guessing he realized we didn't re-lock the door and figured if someone was going to come in they were going to walk into him first which means they wouldn't have gotten past the front door.It really amazes me the intelligence and loyalty these wonderful animals have.I certainly feel safe with him in the house!

You know,Akita's are very smart and very protective but I must admit I was really suprised. In fact he wouldn't get up until I went and locked the door and then he followed me back to the bathroom, and to think the AC I rescued him from was going to put him down because he was an Akita.God really blessed us and him!

I live 6 houses down from the 2 lane highway intersection. My wife drives our older Explorer to work and when she turns onto our street off the highway Dakota starts barking. This is when she is inside the house. Must be a unique sound to the car or something, pretty far distance though to detect that, maybe an extra sense and not sound.

Both my dogs sleep by the front door waiting for me to come home, but generally if I'm home, they are in whatever room I'm in.

Thats a cool story.
Our dogs know that we always pull the vehicles up into the curve of the driveway (which you can see from the glass back doors) but one day I just parked directly in front of the front porch because I had a load of groceries to bring in. Wow, the noise! lol and how funny it is when they stop barking the second they realize it is you!
