Puddles and I were talking about them in the Shoutbox so I figured I'd post some pics.
Ares is the white with black saddle Indian fantail, King is a black Indian fantail with some white on him sitting on my hand, and Jupiter is the grey piebald Hindi fantail.

That first one is really striking. I never saw one like that before. Are they all rescues too?

They are nice looking pigeons... How did you get them? were they lost homing pigeons? my uncle saved a homing pigeon a few years back, because i guess when homing pigeons don't make it back to their owner on time, supposedly they kill them, is this true? i don't really know much about it...

nesta,
I had a rescued racing pigeon which is what got me started in the whole pigeon keeping thing. He was a Birmingham Roller, similar to homing pigeons (which are actually extinct) but known for the way they tuck and roll before landing. He was banded and I tried to track the owner- in CALIFORNIA. I never got a response so we built a large coop and decided he needed some friends. One of my doves had come from a good friend who breeds birds for show and so I contacted him to let him know that I was looking for more members of the rock dove species, like Percy. I had seen his ornamental pigeons and loved the fantails so when he had a baby who wouldn't be show material- Ares doesn't have neat enough edges to his black coloration on his tail- he gave me a call and said he needed a pet home. Ares would have made good breeding stock (he's by far my favorite as far as looks go) but my friend said he'd rather the birds be healthy, cared for and loved than go into a breeding facility as some bird with a number.
The two Hindi fantails- Jupiter above and Juno, who died from eggbinding this year :(- were a wedding present from my friend. Hindis don't have a place in the show circuit yet so even though they're considered valuable they would have to live as either breeders or pets. When I got them, I adopted King as well- another bird who wouldn't make it as a show bird because even though he's flashy, his "pantaloon" feathers never grew in like what's preferred.
That was probably more than you wanted to know :D

He's my favorite, too :) But Ares (Greek god of war) was a great name for him- he's a jerk!

OMG.. Yea, you really do have a animal farm... Busy household, I imagine!! I'm not sure if I should say " Way to Go" , " Sweet", " I'm sorry". lol.. That's so neat though, I've always wanted to live on my own "farm" so I can have as many animals as I could. Mainly dogs and horses.

At one point we had the dogs (only 3) and cats 6 pigeons, the doves, 2 budgies, 2 guinea pigs, and a colony of Indian Walking Stick Insects. :D THAT was a hectic household.
