A while back there was an advertisement regarding a change in the Greenie formula. They stated that the new formula was made up with digestable proteins rather than gluten or some such materials. We all love our dogs and don't want to contribute in any way to endangering them with an inferior product so I bought one (just 1) of the new formula greenies, broke it in half and placed it in a glass of warm water. Within the first 30 minutes it changed color from green to white and I was able to scale off the first layer of the greenie. After three hours in the same water it was about 1/2 disolved. So I would say that their claim that it is is soluable is true. I have resumed feeding Greenies (the new formula) to my dog and will continue to do so until I receive evidence to the contrary.

There are very few products available that haven't injured someone or something so Greenies may have been given a bad wrap; however I believe there claim is that the new product will fully dissolve in 6 hours. Its also my understanding that these products were getting lodged in the dogs esophugous (sp?). It doesn't seem to me that a 6 hour dissolve time would be all that helpful.

My dogs have never had a problem with the Greenies but now we give them Puppp-errr-mints instead.

I've heard mostly stories about dogs with blockages in their intestines. The stuff wasn't digesting and even well chewed pieces would stick together in the digestive tract. Again, a 6 hour (even half hour!) dissolution would not do much good for a dog.

I'm glad no one on the forum's had problems with them before. I still won't be feeding them. :)

Yea, I won't be giving them to mine either.
