Zoe's from a pet store (before I knew better) but is my only dog with no health problems!!! Figures, huh?

Penny is from a breeder in Ontario. She had LCP (Legg Calve Perthes disease) and had an operation at 7 months old and is perfect now - and happy as a clam - was a long first year, though.

Charlie and Tessa are from a supposed wonderful breeder but both have luxating patellas Hopefully they won't worsen. Right now, they don't need surgery. Tessa is also super hyper and a bit aggressive - she fought with Penny a lot - so we got Charlie (male min pins are sookies and peace makers) and that worked wonderfully... but he's VERY nervous and shy - both definitely not good breeding.

I live in Nova Scotia. Our shelters here RARELY have small dogs - almost never, actually, and min pins are VERY uncommon here. The closest breeder is Quebec - 2,000 miles away . I looked for min pins in rescue, etc., here for a year to no avail. Now, if I'd wanted a shepherd, lab, husky or mix of any of them, TONS of those - but no min pins.

I got min pins because they were supposed to be a very hardy, healthy dog!!! Sigh....

I had a sheltie before, Randy, who died of acute pancreatitis at 9 years old; and Jake, a peke-a-pom, who died at 11 from congestive heart failure.

I wanted NO MORE FUR so got the min pins.

I LOVE their personalities and don't regret getting them at all, even though Penny cost me over $2,000, and now Charlie and Tessa MAY need surgery some day but hopefully not

I have gazillions of pics of them here:
