Adoption Idea

Since most of us volunteer at organizations that deal with adoptions, what if we try to have the "adoption" forum appeal to those organizations. Almost to be able to list some of their dogs up for adoption throughout different parts of the nation, having this entire forum listed on the organization webpage for adoption news & a place for potential dog owners to gather information/input on dogs.

Brainstorming here...

Anyone think it might be a good idea?

I'm worried that we would get overloaded because their is a HUGE need. I receive more than 200 emails a DAY on dogs that are in need of homes. There would probably be a crash on the system. With that said, I see no problem with having a section for contributing members. Like if you wanted to post pictures and descriptions of dogs/cats at you shelter, but to have someone who stumbles across the site and starts posting dogs, we will get overwhelmed. I say if you are going to have the thread, the member needs to be a senior member which means 100 posts, if not, this site will become a adoption forum and not a dog discussion forum.

I like the idea also,,I do agree that it could get overloaded,,,it might have to be limited to people that have been members for a few months or some time period so you don't just get people signing up just to post their animals. for sure a good idea,,have a few right now that could go on.

Adoptions

I believe we need to leave the adoption post to adoption sites. This is a forum for owners and trainers, posting dogs for adoption outside of a members occassional misfortune has the potential to be disastrous. I believe there are enough rescue groups and such to handle those needs.

While the idea is great I agree with Stark. As a happy medium, could there be a place to post links to rescues? Not a dicsussion forum, but links alone. More reference than anything.

I agree. I think there's a very limited audience here for such a thing and most of the people who read the forums are the ones who are volunteering and fostering, breeders, dog owners, etc. Not folks who are necessarily looking for dogs.

That said, I certainly think that members should be encouraged instead to place links in the links or rescue forums for the websites of the organizations that they work with, or talk to us about your fosters- after all, this place is here for us and the dogs we love.
