If you can attend, that would be even better.
Town Hall Meeting
to discuss aggressive dogs
DeSoto, much like other suburban cities in the Metroplex, is experiencing a growing concern over aggressive dogs in our neighborhoods. In DeSoto, this is manifested by dogs running at large without proper I.D. Animal control and police officers are experiencing difficulty restraining these animals.
The city council has received suggestions from citizens regarding approaches we might use to address the situation. Since changes or modifications of our existing rules pertaining to aggressive dogs is, in reality, a community value statement, the city council is interested in receiving input from the community regarding possible solutions to this problem.
Accordingly, the City of DeSoto will hold a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the possibility of banning certain breeds of dogs in our community. This meeting will take place at City Hall in the City Council Chambers at Town Center on Thursday, December 7th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will also be broadcast live on Time Warner cable channel 16 and will be available for viewing on the city’s website at www.ci.desoto.tx.us.
The city council is interested in hearing all points of view and positions on this issue. If you have an opinion or an experience you would like to share, please attend this important meeting. The city council will take under advisement the citizen input received at this meeting as they consider amending or broadening our current ordinance to include prohibiting certain breeds of dogs from DeSoto. For more information, please contact the Action Center at 972 230-9600.
