I don't know if it's been asked before, but is garlic okay for dogs? LOL I found my nephew feeding Lily garlic mashed potatoes beneath the table tonight. They had quite a bit of garlic mixed in (a lot of small chunks-by my hubby "mr.garlic"). Lily was gobbling it all up. I haven't seen any negative reactions, but I am keeping an eye on her.

Garlic is fine- in fact it's used in a lot of treats to add flavor instead of salt. It's even an old home remedy for fleas- not that it works, but it's been recommended for generations. I think your only problem may be that she'll come to like potatoes a little too much.

I'm not sure but I have read somewhere that said onion and garlic both shouldn't be given to dogs. I'll try to find the info.

We use garlic in some of our baked goods. The dogs love it. It is also used by some pet food companies and has long been recommended by some as a flea deterent as Diggity says.

It doesn't hurt in moderation but in large quantities is toxic. We use it sometimes in dog cookies.

Thanks for the info. I did put a call in to the vet, just in case. The vet says to just keep an eye on her, but she seems to be doing okay. The kids also got a HUGE lecture about feeding their food to the dog!
