Books

I went to pet smart today and you won't believe what i saw. In the books isle there were a bunch of flashy books on designer dogs! Ladoodles, puggles, cockapoos ect... there were about 10 or more types. The covers were all glittery like they were aimed at preteen girls. I was so discusted i had to leave. I didn't want my kids to see that. I should have looked to see who the author was.

Maybe we should write to PetsMart headquarters and tell them how disappointed we are in the them for promoting mixed breed dogs and breeding them...

Absolutely! You can send what's called a CRO, I can't remember what it stands for, but you can do it by email from their website. I can't believe that they don't see that they are directly contradicting themselves by supposedly trying to help reduce overpopulation by adopting out dogs instead of selling but carrying books like that that encourage puppy millers and byb's, and ignorance among buyers. I'm sure that having a book about a -doodle just lends to the idea that they are a ''purebred''. How disgusting.

Well, I don't think PetsMart really cares. They have a pitbull ban for the Doggie DayCare section, and I wrote them about that and got a load of **** back for a response. The more people who have pets, the more money they make... I have personally stopped using them and have found a local "family" owned store to buy my dog food, treats, and toys at.

O i agree. I don't think they care as long as it appears to the outside world that they do. I don't go there often. Went today because they had cat litter on sale and well I was bored and that store is huge. lol. I buy all my toys and chew ect online, along with my fish supplies. And they don't even carry my dog food there. Although I will pick up cat food there once in a while. We don't have any private stores close that aren't puppy mill lovers. Well i take that back there is one but they are very expensive. And as much as i love supporting the little guy i have to take care of myself first. We shop and Pet Supplies Plus for dog food. It's a chain but it's a pretty small chain i think. I have never heard of it outside of the chicago area. Although it could be out there and i just don't know. Any way i'm rambling which means i need to go to bed. TTYL.

Pet supplies plus is a franchise, and we have them in Dallas, too. I like them, though. Small pet store feel with big pet store prices.

Petsmart may or may not care. I'll write them tomorrow or something. They are about the bottom line, but if their image as far as 'adoption vs sales' starts to slip, they get worried. I used to work there, for over 2 years. I've sent a couple of cro's and got pretty quick responses, especially if it's on a local level, like about an employee or grooming mishap.

Support your local independant retailer if you can. You'll get better service and they are soooo sensitive to that sort of thing that you won't find those books there.
