is there really a difference between "puppy" food and "adult" dog food? iv been feeding my 7 month old puppy adult dog food (nutro natural, natual balance..) for the majority of his puppyhood and wanted to make sure im not doing him any harm...

There certainly is a difference in the formulation but I don't think its significant. I do recomend the Wellness Puppy Food because it includes DHA which is shown to aid in cognitive ability. However, even my reps. who sell puppy food will agree that it is fine to feed an allstages adult dog food, and its especially appropriate if there are dogs of multiple ages in the home.

Puppy food has more nutrients and fat. Lol You feed a puppy adult food and there is no real harm but if you feed and adult puppy food he might gain some weight! Lol :p

This is true if you have a smaller or medium sized dog. If you have a large or extra large breed, you want to use a large breed puppy formula of a good brand because they need additional help with bone development. They grow so fast that sometimes their bones and joints can't keep up. It's a very common condition if x large dogs to get deformed looking legs from not being on a food with a proper balance of fat, protien, and with the added calcium and other suppliments that these guys need, but without overdoing it.

It's just like feeding a baby skim milk instead of whole, ok toddler. IT just doesn't have the fat that he needs in it. It's one of those things that you can't change now. Most of his systems are developed at this point. Fat helps to bulid nerves and varius other body systems.
