I take mine biking, usually 5 miles over varing terrain (hills etc) wears them out pretty good. I'm also looking at setting my treadmill up and seeing if any of my pups would be interested in running on it.

My Lucy girl is hyper. I have hiked over 2 hours with her and she still has just as much energy as when we started. She could play fetch until your arm falls off. I have found the best way to get her spent is to call my sil (who has a dog that plays similar to her... kind of a rough physical play with no aggression) and we meet at a local park. We give them an hour to romp together and after that, both dogs sleep for a long while!

Add a filled backpack to the walk. Maybe a treadmill at home. SUPERVISED!!! Make sure it is a purposed walk as well.

Exercise
Swimming would probably be the best for such a young pup, even an adult as far as that goes.

swimming is best...remember that your young pups bones are still growing and strengthening,so you dont want to do any high impact stuff..
of course i would let the pup run,but i wouldnt let him run strenuously over an extended period of time.. play dates with another pup would be good as long as age and size, maybe breed are similiar... i also use a backpack(filled with ice on hot days, water on others and first aid supplies)..it does work, and thety like haveing a job to do...just make sure you evenly distribute the load and dont overload...your boy looks sturdy tho,and unless you were going to put lead in them, the packs arent overly huge.. I would take it easy untill 1yr. Wait for the growth plates to stop before starting strenous things. For example agility isn't sussposed to be started untill after a year, espically in large breeds.

It works especially well for larger dogs, very easy on the joints. The only thing I would watch is the dogs ears... |

Lily gets walks, and twice weekly romps at the nearby dog park with other dogs. The walks we take are on the beach, since we live only 3 miles from the coast, and it is a off-leash beach. Lily doesn't care for the water too much, even being a lab, so swimming is a bit hard to get her to do.
