I'm looking for some tips to make sure my puppy enjoys taking a bath. I've bathed her twice now and she whines and whines and tries to escape. Pretty soon she's going to be too big to hold her back. I tried bribing her with treats while I was bathing her, but it didn't have much of an effect. Any ideas?

I usually don't use treats for bath time. When it's NOT bathtime I'll practice with the dog by getting them in and out of the tub for treats, but during bathtime if they make a fuss I usually grab them by the scruff and give a firm no to tell them to knock it off. My dogs never seemed to grow to like baths when I tried to use toys or praise, even though they love to swim, but at least they don't throw a fit when I bathe them. They understand that it's something that's going to happen whether they like it or not and there's no use trying to fight it.

I find it hard to explain... My problem when Isabella was a puppy was she wasn't trying to get out, but would just lie down in the tub which made it difficult to wash her belly and feet. So, I was doing alot of lifting her back up, she finally got it though, but she gave me a work out.
Just keep nudging the pup back into the tub along with a firm no. The pup will get use to it, you just need to make it clear of what's expected of the pup. I suppose the cookie will be ok AFTER the bath is completed.

When Mambo had mange he had to have a bath every other day. Before that he was ok in the bath. But since we did it so often he got so use to it. He even jumps in if I say the word bath. Loves it now.
Maybe try giving him a bath more often. Not real good , but maybe just rinse him with water. My puppy behaves better when the water is warmer.
Good luck
