Age their EYES open?? - Dog Forums

I know that the average time it takes for a puppy's eyes to open takes up to 2 weeks, but my newborn is 2 weeks and 2 days old and still nothing. I took him to the vet to get a check up and dewormed already, and the vet said he was fine. He was premature by 2-3 days, so that could possibly be it. Please let me know if anyone has an ideas. Thanks everyone in advance for the help!

It could have something to do with her being a premie, but sometimes it does take a few days more or less for a dog's eyes to open. No worries! If your vet says he looks good otherwise, just wait a little bit longer before growing concerned. I don't think it would be unheard of for a puppy to go up to 20 days without opening the eyes, especially if it was premature.

Thanks for answering! You're one of the most responsive people here that I've met! That made me feel heaps better! I think I'm just so anxious, and it feels like that's MY baby so I freak at the smallest things...

It's because I do so much work at the computer and get obsessive about checking email, DD, etc. LOL
