So do y'all groom your own dogs or go to a groomer? Just interested in every ones opinions on the matter. :)
I groom my own. I get into the bathtub with them (in my bathing suit lol) and use the extendable shower head thingy. We all get soaked :p

One of my jobs is at a grooming shop as a bather so I have an advantage. :) Easy stuff- baths, ears, nails, teeth- I do. I sometimes leave more detailed work like trimming feet or edging feathers (I have setters) to my boss. It depends on how much is needed. I usually try it myself and if it doesn't look right, she takes over :D
Since working at the shop, I'm spoiled and hope I NEVER have to bend over my tub to scrub a dog again. My back thanks me for my job choice. :)

Me and the dogs in the tub. Really gets funny when the dog weighs more than I do! They get a bath, get dried off, then mom gets a bath. :)

I usually groom both dogs myself.
Winston, the Boston Terrier, is easy. He justs sits in the tub and enjoys it. Then lets me dry him off and on his way he goes.
Reggie, Irish Wolfhound, on the other hand, loves water and is great during the bathing. It is when she gets out and starts shaking water all over the bathroom and jumping that it gets messy. I usually end up washing the bathroom from floor to ceiling to get all the hair off :D
I must say we do have fun though.;)

I do my own. I took my bitch that passed away to a groomer one time because she was so nasty that i didn't want to deal with her. I know that sounds bad but she was a rough collie and not only is that massively time consuming but also very messy. Other then that I do my own at all times. I even groomed my mom's westie when i was younger.

I groom my own.
The Beagle is easy and less time consuming that most dogs, but our GSD is a pain in the butt.
If she is brushed everyday, she normally isn't that bad though.

We bathe both of our dogs ourselves. They get a bath whenever they get dirty or start to smell, and we brush them regularly. But they get their nails trimmed at the vets (where they are boarded occasionally)

I do my own grooming.. Dakota gets a bath with shampoo once a year. I also just wipe her down with baby wipes once a month if needed. Plus, I fed her premium Omega-3 fish oil everyday, so that really controls the dander and keeps her coat shiney and healthy. Healthy dog = No smelly dog.. ;) :) So, no need for to many baths..

I have been bathing my dog every couple of weeks lately for dog shows. I also cut and grind my dog's nails.
what kind of nail clippers do you use?? I need to buy a new pair--didn't like the ones I've been using since they seem to splinter the nail and not cut cleanly. Any suggestions??

Do you use flax seed at all or just fish oil?
I notice that if I use FS during the winter, their coat wont dull and if I use fish oil, they normally have a loose stool.
I use FS for both my dogs and my horse, and it works wonders!

I do both. I let him go to the groomer, kind alike a pamper day for him.
But I also give him a bath . He loves the water and takes any chance he can get to take a bath.
Its good for him to go to the groomers, he gets use to other people touching him, as well as gets to meet more people.

I groom Lily myself. She actually hates baths, but tolerates them. She will happily hop into the tub, but the moment you turn on the water..she tries her best to high-tail it out of the bathroom  She sits nice for her snips and trims I do, and she loves to be brushed. If you stop brushing her, she will pick up the brush in her mouth and kind of 'bop' you with it until you take it and continue.

I use Seapet fish oil, I've haven't tried Flax Seed oil. What type of fish oil did you use? I haven't had a problem with loose stools. I use Seapet Omega-3 Fish Oil with Vitamin E (once a day) and Seapet Cod liver oil (once a week). I love Seapet fish oil, it does wonder on Dakota's coat and her brains.. I believe Seapet is one of the premium fish oils out there..
Here's Seapet's website if you want to check them out. :)
