Oh Yeah!!! I have a great Dane that is very friendly, she is very eager to great anyone and everyone while we are out walking. Beacuse she is so big and gets so excited everyone figures she is trying to eat them not that she just wants to meet them!!
Also I have a pit bull story (love the breed by the way) My mom had one when she lived up in Mairposa and I had to take her to the vet one day and penny was a litle sweety, but when I walked in the vets office there must have been 8 people in there, they all scooped up there animals like Penny was going to eat them all!! It is sad how bad owners have given the breed such a horrible rap!!

Yes, I have Toy Fox Terriers and I can't tell you the number of times people have called them rats or made some comment to the affect that they are not real dogs or are worthless. Even if their only trait was companionship that would make them worthwhile but my dogs are working terriers who keep vermin under control. Those are not just cute faces you see in my avatar!

tftmom, that's incredible! It's exciting to see someone with terriers who is putting them to work. I know my friend Beth who runs her jack in Earthdog loves it but it's rare to see vermin dogs. :) We have a dog in our rescue (Baxter (http://www.starfish.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=52616)) who we think is a TFT mix, would you mind terribly taking a look (http://www.starfish.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=52616) at him and giving me your opinion on that? He's much larger than they are but I am trying to peg the terrier breed I can see in him. I'd really appreciate it!
And a peeve of mine is the prejudice against beagles and hounds- we have had several of this type in our rescue and anytime someone calls asking about a dog and I suggest a beagle or hound, I hear "no, we want an inside dog" or "don't beagles stink?" or "I heard they can't be housepets." People hear "beagle" and they shut their ears off!

Starfishsaving, given his size I would think Smooth Fox Terrier. There are oversized TFT's. Several years ago, some TFT breeders I know in this area reregistered their oversized dogs as Rat Terriers and are using them to establish a breed type. Most of the Rat Terriers in our area look like large TFT's but they are still 15 lbs or smaller. This dog looks like he is closer to 35-40 lbs. I don't see how TFT could be part of the mix. Usually when there is an extreme size difference in parents the pups turn out dwarfy looking and your guy looks well proportioned.
