My dogs Kiwi and Rocky recently had puppies about 2 weeks ago. Now that the puppies have just opened their eyes, I've noticed that a few seem cross-eyed. I'm not sure if this is normal and their eyes will just readjust later on, but it just concerns me because Rocky is cross-eyed. Help anyone?

they are chihuahua mixes. It just concerns me because I want to find them good owners and I think if they were to be in that state, it would be hard to do so.

First off why did you breed them? What breed of dog are they.

They are uknown chihuahua mixes. And actually, I'm speaking on behalf of my younger cousins and I'm sure it was not expected though it should have been. However, I just want to know if its that type of situation or normal. So does anyone have any answers?

really i have found that in small dog puppies for the first few days they might appear to be cross eyed but it wears off. but if one of the parents are cross eyed then they might just be :( i guess for now you can just wait and hope they are not

good luck!!!

My answer would be to get them neutered.

I have a friend who recently got a chichaua puppy/mix and ive seen this thing sice day one and i kinda notived it was cross eyed from the beginning and i recall it just sort of going away or the puppie growing into the look i doubt its something to be worried about

I don't knwo anything about that breed but in APBTs I know that isn't normal. I'd have them vet checked as a precaution

When my dog had her puppies (not a breeder, here, she was a pregnant rescue), they were that way in the early days lol. They straightened up at about 4 weeks , though.

LOL, I don't think so, but at least it would prevent more cross eyed puppies from being born!

:D yes, I know..I was just referring to offering an opinion that doesn't help the CURRENT situation...seems to be happening a lot more lately.

well, what would you suggest one do about cross eyed puppies? My first suggestion would be see a vet, and the second would be don't produce any more.

exactly, see a vet or give it time like was suggested by someone above familiar with the puppies. neutering would be wise for the future, i'm just saying it's not what the person asked for help with so why offer that as your only contribution to the thread ya know?

sometimes people don't always know what type of help they need, and I see no need for a poster to repeat previous statements. Making the person aware that neutering should be the next step is not a bad thing.

No it will not fix cross eyes. What I ment was netuer the dam thing and stop breeding mutts. And I am not the first to be sick & tired of all this breeding of mutts. I feel terrible for all those dogs that are stuck in shelters or being killed because they are to many out their.

So look into the eye problem with a VET as we are none on here or are their ?LMAO Maybe you will be a little more careful when you want to breed. Research it takes alot of knowledge to be a breeder. Not some fly by night on a whim I am going to breed this beagle with this corgi and lets see what happens. Sure accidents happen and if this is your case then I am really sorry for jumping all over you ass.

I am curiouse to know if you did go to a vet and if they are still in fact crossed

Thank you!
