Does anyone else here have one? I have one named Cody, who is 11 months old. I swear, he's the most stubborn, onery dog I've ever met or owned. Anyone care to share stories about theirs?

I have thought about getting one for years. A friend had a corgi the was the most trainable dog I have ever met. LOL Talk about different personalities. Cute picture. I love the ears. Who is Cody's buddy?

Cody's buddy is a long haired miniature dachshund named Jasper. I bought him when I was stationed in Japan, and brought him back with me.

Jasper is a cutie too. What did you have to go through to bring Jasper to the US? What was required?

I had to get him a health certificate within 10 days before departing. This had to be attached to the outside of his carrier. I had to pay (I think) $90 to get him from Tokyo to California, and then $70 from Cali to Dallas. Wasn't too bad, just had to go to a different part of baggage claim to get him.

do they only transport smaller animals in planes? That's really cool that you did that cause most people would just get rid of them, thinking it's too much of a hassle!

No, I saw a guy taking his two dogs with him (one was an akita, and one a GSD mix, pretty big). You just pay by either weight or size, I can't remember (this was like 4 years ago). He told me that it cost him $500 to bring them back with him.

Ya i know people like that. Military people in general go thru pets pretty quickly. Espically the younger ones that miss home and whatever pet they had there but aren't ready to accept the responsibility for themselves. Any way my friend got 2 brittish shorthairs when she was stationed in japan. Someone else left and it was to her gain. She btw brought them back to the states with her.

This author created alot of stories/art and her favorite dog seems to be the Corgi. Lots of fun pictures, both on her site and in her books. I love the stories she wrote and about her own personal life. Different!

I wouldn't say that military people aren't responsible as a majority, but when I was stationed in Japan, I did see a lot of it. People would have a pet for the 4 years that they were over there, and then give it away. I used to volunteer at the Pet Shelter on base, called PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving). We always had dogs and cats coming thru there from people who were leaving. On the other hand, I did see a lot of people who brought their pets back with them. Just depends on the person, I think, not their career.

There was no quarantine period? I'm surprised and very glad!

No, no quarentine. I want to say that there was one if you were bringing your pets INTO the country, but not out of it. I think the health certificate covered that.

I hear Corgis are Queen Elizabeth of England's favorite breed. She owns at least 5 of them at one time.
