I recently got a new cat who unfortunately went through the shelter system and caught a cold. A couple of days after I took the cat to the vet for his runny nose, my dog started with a runny nose too.
She's always had a habit of blowing her nose in her water bowl, which she's doing now and then, and she's not off her feed. But, I guess she doesn't feel so great -- hard to say.
Should I let it run its course, or get her to the vet? Of course it's a holiday weekend! For further info, in the case of the cat they said it was just a virus, but since the cat's phlegm was yellow/green they gave me some antibiotics. The dog's nose is running clear, knock on wood, so far. Eyes are fine.
I've never had a dog with a cold before. I'm not expecting long-distance diagnosis, but any ideas of what can ease her troubles while it's not serious enough to go to the vet, or the tipping point (beyond yellow/green or blood in the mucus) to take her to the vet for a secondary sinus infection, would be appreciated.
thanks in advance.
